Astrotherapy | Transpersonal Psychotherapy

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.

— Carl Jung

Our Psukhe clinic, located in Central London, West End (WC1) is one of the first in UK, to our knowledge, and probably in the world to systematically apply Astrotherapy as a form of transpersonal, integrative, humanistic, existential counselling and therapy. Our uniquely different, pioneering London therapist, psychotherapist and counsellors are prepared to deal with psychological issues as diverse as: depression, anxiety, addiction, substance abuse and misuse, eating disorders, trauma, grief, bereavement, abuse, stress, identity confusion, personality disorders, sexual identity problems (gay & lesbian) etc. But in each of these cases and any others, we would still recommend a medium- to long-term therapy, in which we will work out all the aspects of the individual and have the necessary time to dig up and let everything from the unconscious mind of the client clear up, with the intention of helping him in the process of self-actualization or individuation, just like psychoanalytic, analytic or psychodynamic therapy does.

This is our flagship service. Also called clinical astrology, it is a form of therapy that combines astrology with clinical psychology, first hinted at in the pioneering work of Dane Rudhyar in the 30s. Most of Rudhyar seminal achievement consisted of applying Jung’s analytic psychology’s concepts to astrology, elevating, enriching and refining it, which resulted in a unique, precise and penetrating scientific tool for plunging the depths of the human psyche. Jung himself considered astrology to represent “the summation of all psychological knowledge of antiquity” and stated that he had found that astrology illuminated aspects of his clients' personality that he had otherwise been unable to understand. His esteem for astrology was well‐known. And his application of the concept of synchronicity changed the way we understand astrology forever.

In astrotherapy we begin by making the client’s natal chart and interpreting it. The natal chart is, in point of fact, a veritable blueprint of his psychic make‐up. Then in each regular session we pick up one aspect of the chart and we start to dig it up, in a psychoanalytical fashion. The recognition that astrological interpretations always trigger in the client provide an excellent base for inspiring discussion and eliciting material from the unconscious to burst into consciousness. Session by session, aspect by aspect the psychological life of the client unfolds and is transformed in the process. The whole process helps awaken the individual to his true nature, supports self‐actualization and sparks the process of individuation. As he becomes aware of his true, unique individuality and becomes authentic, the client emerges from the chrysalis built by the therapist a mature, complete, healthy human being. We work together to bring about your real Self, completely actualized.

It is a long term therapy and we recommend at least a once weekly regularity of sessions. Anyone who is looking for a form of psychotherapy, but may not be fully satisfied by conventional therapy, can come and try astrotherapy. You can come to therapy at any point in your life, but there are three particularly challenging periods in a person’s life: youth, maturity and old age; which is to say, all of them. What is different with astrotherapy than with most other psychotherapies is that it is not intended exclusively for treating psychological problems, brilliantly effective as it is at doing it nonetheless. You do not have to be in distress to embark on therapy. It is perfectly suited for personal development, growth and enrichment, aims considerably superior to mere mental health; and harder to achieve. Mental health is mediocrity; astrotherapy is committed to the search for excellence, in each and every human being.

From this point of view, our Central London clinic offers regular, individual adult therapy, as well as relationship counselling, couple therapy, child and adolescent counselling (children are most of the time even more responsive to therapy, due to their openess to the transpersonal realm), all based on a transpersonal, humanistic, integrative, existential, analytical (jungian), person-centred and holistic therapeutic approach.
